Wondering what to bring with you to Dunns River Falls?

Whether visiting the falls from a cruise ship or hotel, you should bring the following with you….

Tip: Bring a Waterproof Pouch Bag to hold all your items (cellphone, cash, camera, etc) while climbing the falls. Pouch bags can be purchased on www.amazon.com.

To protect your feet, closed toe water shoes with good grip are recommended when climbing the falls. Water shoes can be purchased at Dunn’s River Falls.

Tip:  lines can be long at the falls,  so bring your own water shoes if you can. Shoes can be purchased from your local department store or  online at Amazon.com.

It physically takes 45 minutes to 1 hour (base to top) to climb Dunn’s River Falls…however, 1 hour and 30 minutes is the average  time it takes from entrance to the exit of Dunns River Park.

The water temperature at the Falls is pretty consistent year round. On rainy days expect the water to be a bit colder…Similarly, on hot sunny days, the water temperature at Dunn’s River Falls is less likely to be cold but cool and refreshing.

Yes, lockers are available for rent at the Falls. When booking transport with tour operators, they will allow you to leave items in the vehicle…just dont bring anything of value.

There is no age restriction to climb the Falls… However, age 7 is probably a reasonable minimum age.

Dunn’s River Falls does not have any snakes…However, Jamaica is home to seven known species of snakes, none of which are venomous. The island’s snake population was once much larger, but due to housing expansion, farming and the introduction of the mongoose in 1872, their numbers have been greatly reduced.

The best day to visit Dunn’s River falls are days that no cruise ships are in port. If arriving on a cruise ship, try and get to the Falls as early as possible to beat the crowds. If staying on island, arriving at the Falls early or later in the day (after 2pm) will be less crowded. Weekends are generally less crowded with local climbers.

After paying entrance fee at Dunn’s River Park, guests who do not wish to get wet are welcome to take the dry walk alongside the falls. Admire the beauty of foliage and if you so choose, enter the falls along the way for a quick dip in the water. You can also take pictures of friends and family members while they climb during your dry walk.
